Men certainly do get a bad rap in today’s society. It’s completely okay to be sexist against men in modern society and in order to justify it, accusations are leveled against men that make them out to be villains.
We’re accused of wanting total control of all of society and trying to enforce patriarchy. We’re accused of wanting to dominate women in everything from how they think to how they look. Speaking of women, we’re accused of only wanting sex from them, with the rest of their time being spent in the kitchen and raising our children. We’re accused of being the sole reason for injustice, violence, and bigotry.
I’m here to tell you now…that’s only half true.
To paint men as creatures with control issues isn’t accurate. Do we want to be in charge of our respective kingdoms? Absolutely. We’re natural leaders who love the idea of being at the head of things. We like calling the shots and being respected as leaders. There’s something in us that drives us to that desire, and while every man experiences this desire to a different degree, the desire is there deep inside.
There’s a reason you see so many men taking charge during business meetings and boardroom sessions. During times of crisis, you’ll often see men stepping forward to direct the response.
This is too often framed as malicious. It’s not. It’s just a natural inclination we tend to have and one that, despite all the naysaying by mainstream culture, tends to be smiled on by everyone from the businesses they work for to admiring women who love a take-charge kind of man.
Speaking of women (again), men absolutely do want sex. We want it a lot and we think about it all the time, but there’s a lot more nuance to that desire.
When a man enters sexual maturity, his hormones are nothing short of a raging hurricane. His desire to hump anything that will let him can be overwhelming and make him say and do some incredibly stupid things. A lot of women get their first real experiences with men during this stage of their lives, and it’s not always pleasant. They come away with the image of men being sex-crazed horndogs with little knowledge of how to treat women tattooed in their minds for the rest of their lives.
But as men get older and wisdom begins to creep in, they discover an interesting fact; sex is great but sex with a woman you really connect with is even better. He begins to understand the value of a woman and, as annoying as she can be sometimes, he’d rather have sex with her than anyone else. In fact, he’d rather have sex with her in a house they live in together and hopefully raise children in. He dedicates a lot of time and resources to making that desire a reality.
The desire to have sex becomes the desire to have a stable relationship when the right woman is met. He never loses his need for sex which can often annoy the wife, but that’s another article. The woman he settles down with has all of the qualities necessary to make a home he provides a stable and loving atmosphere. He wants her to be wise, elegant, even-handed, and beautiful. This creates a home where a man knows that all his time and effort won’t be wasted.
Do you see it all coming together now?
What mainstream culture thinks men want equates to the common prostitute. If that were truly the case, then men truly would be disgusting creatures, but that would be like saying that the only thing raccoons desire is trash. It’s a little more complicated than that. But because mainstream culture believes this is what men are and what they desire, mainstream culture reacts to them like they are utter garbage. Selfish, unruly creatures bent on domination and sex.
What a man actually wants is a stable relationship with a beautiful woman that loves him and to whom he loves enough to dedicate all of his time, resources, and warmth. He wants to have children with this woman and raise them with her. He wants to be the leader of that household and be admired and loved by his wife and children to which he dedicates himself.
That’s what men really want, and that’s not a bad thing at all.
Don’t let the mainstream culture lie to you. Men aren’t evil scumbags that only want sex. What they want is something far more fulfilling…and also sex.
And a sword. We all want a sword.
