Whoopi Goldberg Is Either a Hyperbolic Liar or a Perfect Example of the Left's Ignorance

Readers of this site will know that when it comes to some of the dumbest takes in the country, The View usually reigns supreme as the source of the hottest of takes. The heat they radiate can be felt at the ISS.

Take, for instance, this little tidbit from hostess Whoopi Goldberg, who has issued forth some really ridiculous diatribes in her time, but this one might take the cake.

While the ladies were, of course, talking about the death of Roe v Wade, they began expanding on their ideas about the death of women’s rights and how other groups are next. This includes black people, of which Justice Clarence Thomas is one. Thomas is married to Virginia Thomas, a white woman, and Goldberg had a warning for them both.

“He better hope — we were not in the constitution either. We were not even people in the constitution.

You better hope that they don’t come for you, Clarence, and say you should not be married to your wife, who happens to be white. Because they will move that, and you better hope that nobody says, you know, well, you’re not in the Constitution. You’re back to being a quarter of a person because that’s not going to work either.”

This was naturally followed up by applause by The View’s audience, whom I assume would applaud a broken toilet if one of The View’s hostesses sang its praises.

Goldberg is, of course, way off in her claims. The “quarter of a person” claim she’s making is actually the three-fifths compromise, and many leftists point to this as proof that the founding fathers hated black people and saw them as less than a human. In truth, it was a very clever attempt at making sure the slave-owning south didn’t get too much power in Washington by using their slaves as a way to bolster their numbers and gain more seats.

The founders were very much against slavery, by and large, only recognizing its temporary necessity in order to hold the union together. However, as Abe Lincoln later explained, the founders had planted the seeds of slavery’s death at the very beginning of the nation’s founding in more than one way.

Moreover, no one is coming for interracial marriage…at least not on the right. More than once I’ve seen a black man or woman be chastised for marrying someone who is white and being labeled a race traitor for doing so by leftists and BLM activists. Segregation is not a Republican ideal and its view of being for giving civil rights to minority groups has been one of the main sources of contention with the Democrat Party since its founding at the time of Lincoln.

It’s entirely possible that Goldberg doesn’t know all of this. Hollywood’s ideological bubble tends to be incredibly tight and they don’t allow in any information that may weaken it. Goldberg is, after all, an old-school coastal elite like Barbara Streisand and Alec Baldwin.

It’s also possible that she does know this and she’s being entirely disingenuous and hyperbolic in order to terrify or anger people into agreeing that her political enemies are also their political enemies.

So she’s either ignorant of what she’s talking about or she’s a manipulative liar.

Which is it?
