Abortion activists are an odd bunch, to say the least. Just when you think you’ve reached the rocky bottom of their insanity, they toss you a shovel and encourage you to keep digging.

Former Irish president Mary McAleese is one such activist who believes her brand of crazy is absolutely normal, yet a harmless tradition practiced for hundreds of years is somehow a horrible thing.

According to the Irish Times, McAleese recently attacked the Catholic practice of baptizing a baby in water as a violation of fundamental human rights:

Saying that early Baptism breaches fundamental human rights, she said: “You can’t impose, really, obligations on people who are only two weeks old and you can’t say to them at seven or eight or 14 or 19 ‘here is what you contracted, here is what you signed up to’ because the truth is they didn’t.”

The current model of Baptism “worked for many centuries because people didn’t understand that they had the right to say no, the right to walk away”, she declared.

According to Life News, McAleese may be a bit salty about the Catholic church, especially after it opposed the repeal of Ireland’s pro-life laws:

Last week, McAleese also blasted Catholic Bishop Kevin Doran of Elphin who urged Catholics to attend confession if they voted to repeal the country’s pro-life Eighth Amendment.

The Irish Independent reports McAleese flouted the bishop’s urging and openly touted her vote to allow the legalized killing of unborn babies in Ireland. She made the statements at a weekend conference organized by the Catholic lay group We Are Church Ireland in Dublin.

I really shouldn’t have to explain why McAleese’s statement is absolutely ridiculous, but I feel like I do in light of the fact that too many pro-abortion advocates exhibit low levels of reasoning that surprises me, given the fact that these opinions come from thinking humans who are intelligent enough at least put fully formed sentences together.

During infant baptism, water is poured over a baby’s head in a ceremony dating back to what some believe to be the time of Paul the apostle. No harm befalls the baby. Their heads get a bit wet and then everyone goes to lunch.

During an abortion, the baby dies because the doctor kills the child with various methods of doing so at his disposal, some of them sounding like concepts straight out of a horror movie.

Of the two of these, which one do you feel violates the baby’s human rights? The one where it puts on a nice little gown, has some H20 dribbled on its head and then has a bottle? Or the one where it’s killed?
