Despite recently carrying out high-profile bans of right-leaning figures, Facebook is still allowing pro-Hamas content to be circulated throughout their social media site.

No matter how you feel about figures such as Paul Joseph Watson or Alex Jones, the fact that they were banned is absolutely outrageous, especially when you consider that they didn’t violate any of the rules on that social media network.

The fact that they didn’t violate any of the rules, and yet got banned, feels more like a test run. First, it’s Watson, and who knows where they may go from there.

It’s also scary to see that as this is happening, there are accounts that are continuously posting positive posts about terrorist organizations. This is actually something that Facebook does state clearly in its rules:

In an effort to prevent and disrupt real-world harm, we do not allow any organizations or individuals that proclaim a violent mission or are engaged in violence, from having a presence on Facebook. This includes organizations or individuals involved in the following:

-Terrorist activity

-Organized hate

-Mass or serial murder

-Human trafficking

-Organized violence or criminal activity

We also remove content that expresses support or praise for groups, leaders, or individuals involved in these activities.

With Facebook taking a hard stance against terrorist activity or the removal of content “that expresses support or praise” for “group, leaders, or individuals” that engage in terrorism, it seems a bit odd that Facebook is allowing that very thing to exist on its site.

Facebook has now deplatformed those they consider 'dangerous extremists.'

This includes the existence of blatantly antisemitic pages.

Again, your feelings about many of the people who were banned are irrelevant when it comes to, not only the unfairness but the way Facebook actively allows pages to exist that promote and engage in the deaths of Israelis.
