The upheaval and bad news at CNN only continues, it seems. Ever since the November election it has been a steady stream of bad news for the network – beginning with the election. Trump’s victory hung a pall over the news channel, and they have seen a precipitous drop in the ratings since the votes came in. This was followed by the defamation ruling that found CNN was a source of malicious fake news reporting.
Then last week came the announcement that hundreds of jobs at the broadcast division would be slashed, and going along with that was a readjustment of much of its broadcast schedule. This would involve Jim Acosta being moved to the Death Valley post-midnight portion, something the diva pundit found to be untenable, and he opted instead to walk away from the job after 17 years. (This was, by all appearances, the intended result delivered by the management.)
Jim Acosta's Sign-Off Message From CNN Was Something Else
We have to wonder if there is another member of the lineup who could be primed for dismissal, one who has been a regular source of conflicting, problematic reporting. Now understand, we are not lobbying to have anyone lose their job (although in the case of Acosta’s departure we also were not opposing that result). Considering the uniform fashion most at CNN address news issues, you might understand if they see fit to excuse a contrarian from their midst.
For many on the conservative side the only glimmer of objectivity remaining at CNN are the regular amusements delivered by their resident pragmatist, Scott Jennings. However, there is another figure there who presents something of a quandary for the ailing outlet, one who counters the hot takes seen from their pundits as he delivers a steady stream of cold data – that would be Harry Enten.
Enten is the CNN version of MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki, the resident data analyst with a large touch screen who interacts with the results, but in a far less-caffeinated fashion than his polling peer at the rival network. The issue is that often - and more frequently of late - Harry has been the delivery vehicle of facts that astound and confound his co-workers. It really has reached a point now where we anticipate seeing him delivering conflicting truths on the air.
Since we mentioned Scott Jennings, why don’t we begin with him. On a segment in November 2024 with a panel, Scott had the audacity to suggest Xitter was the most ideologically balanced social media platform. This sent the other panelists into a state of emotional fervor, disputing him and asking where his proof is of such a claim. He calmly informed the oblivious guests that it had been reported on their very same network – courtesy of data correspondent Harry Enten.
This is amazing obliviousness.

Once again Scott Jennings unravels @CNN leftists when he states that Xitter is a balanced forum of ideas. As they try to label him a crackpot he delivers a simple truth - CNN has reported Xitter users are almost perfectly balanced ideologically. pic.twitter.com/ixqZuCauCL
Earlier in January, CNN was in its now expected state of doom euphoria, celebrating (as it were) the anniversary of the riot at the Capitol, something they now regard as a national holiday. As they were in the throes of the day-long remembrance of the day that they forever will use to scald Donald Trump, there was Enten to calmly inform the brain trust that most people do not care. He cited a poll showing that barely five percent of voters connect Donald Trump to that day’s events.
That is a solid rebuke of all of the hysteria seen from CNN on the matter, but it is hardly the only time Harry deflates the hyperventilating. Trump’s repatriation policy has been a hot button issue at CNN, but you can feel the dismay as he delivers some polling data that defies the coverage, and it was entirely irrefutable. CNN is among those being critical of rounding up illegal criminals and the repatriation efforts. The problem: Enten shows them at his network, the voting public is favoring Trump’s immigration policies, as Nick Arama covered here. Enten brings in no fewer than four polls that show how the majority of people - 55 percent and higher - favor the policy of removing those who are here illegally.
In another instance, he had results of how people have been growing in support of these policies, shooting up 23 percentage points from Biden’s tenure and his handling of the border.
The GOP has turned a 11 pt deficit on who Americans trust on immigration in Trump's first term at roughly this point into a 22 point lead right now.

Moreover, the percentage who say we're on the right track on immigration is up 23 points under Trump than it was under Biden. pic.twitter.com/FEaN41kozD
On climate change, he really brought the uncomfortable realities. While many of his CNN cohorts were claiming the wildfires in California were a result of climate change, Enten doused those warmed-over conspiracies. He first showed that as interest in the wildfires spiked, people actually were less concerned with the climate effects. That is to say, the effort to tie the fires to climate was not getting any traction. But more than this, Enten had more that showed a truly disqualifying detail.
Consider how long we have been inundated with promises and predictions of how imperiled we all are and how certain it is that climate change will adversely affect us all. It has been that way for generations now, yet Harry pours on the global warming hype; over the span of 30 years, the needle has not moved as far as how many Americans are buying into this doomsday scenario.
Perhaps the most telling statistic from Enten is the one concerning Donald Trump directly. Bearing in mind that CNN was consistently opposing him during the campaign cycle, has been steadily critical of him since the election, and as the home of their fact-checking attack Yorkie Daniel Dale, it should serve a sobering reality that not only did they fail to prevent his reelection, as Trump takes office and hits the ground sprinting the general public approves of him at a level not previously seen.
"Big League" for Trump. His approval rating is significantly higher at the start of his second term than at the start of his first.

Moreover, Trump's made history as the first president to be more popular at the start of his second term than at ANY point in his first term. pic.twitter.com/uMYKB6iZW9
So do we think that the presentation of these facts will change the activity at the network? No, no we do not. If anything, based on the obstinate nature towards change to improve their situation, if there is to be a change at CNN, it might involve removing the man who consistently brings the facts that defy the wishcasting reporting seen on its airwaves.
We are not cheering for your removal, Harry, not at all. But it may not be the worst idea to dust off the resume and hit the editing suite to piece together a highlight reel. A majority of your viewers might think that is a wise idea.
