As this week’s conflicts played out, it seemed like the time for teams to reveal their true selves. A few schools were either shown their true colors or impressed and gained more of a foothold in the poll. Along the way, there was UM winning its second straight overtime, a game in Cal interrupted by protestors on the field (yawn), all while Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal widens.

On Tuesday, the first football playoff rankings will be released. Here are a few of the dramatic results, along with the new AP college rankings:

(1) Georgia 43 - Florida 20

The annual World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party was held in Jacksonville, and after a mild eye opener with the Gators scoring on their opening drive, Georgia did not even flinch, as the Bulldogs scored on their first four possessions, putting up 26 straight points. Ladd McConkey led with 135 receiving yards as the balanced Georgia offense nearly put up 500 yards in total.

(22) Kansas 38 - (10) Oklahoma 33

The Sooners have been exposed for the second week in a row as they struggled against an unranked program. The Jayhawks opened the scoring with a pick-6, but Oklahoma had a big second quarter and a halftime lead. The second half had the teams trading the lead but Kansas went on an 80-yard drive and got the final touchdown with less than a minute left in the game.

 (6) Oregon 35 - (18) Utah 6

What was to be one of the marquee matchups of the week between two top-15 teams turned out to be a walkover. Ducks QB Bo Nix picked apart the vaunted Utah defense with a sharp 24/31 passing performance and a pair of touchdowns while the Utes could not generate offense of their own. The loss broke an 18-game home undefeated streak at Salt Lake City.

(15) Louisville 23 - Duke 0

Another top-20 matchup led to another blowout. QB Jack Plummer only needed to be an efficient 11/16 for 117 yards passing as the Cardinals ran all over the Blue Devils. Jawhar Jordan gained 163 yards alone, while Duke as a team couldn't manage 200 yards in total offense.

Georgia Tech 46 – North Carolina 42

After hitting the top 10, North Carolina has since dropped two straight, this time in a gunfight with the Yellow Jackets. In a QB battle, Drake Maye (310 yards, 2 TDs) was outgunned by Haynes King (289 yards, 4 TDs). The Tar Heels carried an 11-point lead but Tech managed three fourth-quarter touchdowns to lock in the upset at home.

(19) Tennessee 33 – Kentucky 27

Two teams fighting for an identity squared off in this battle of offensive schemes. Devin Leary had a huge game in a losing effort, passing for 389 yards and two strikes, but the Wildcats could not contain the Volunteers’ running game as they piled up over 250 yards on the ground.
