Rep. Spartz Announces She's Going to DOGE, Says 'Congress Cannot Fail President Trump Again'

On Monday night Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) said that she would not accept committee assignments in the House and will instead dedicate more of her time to aiding the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and refuse to go to any of the weekly GOP meetings.

"I will stay as a registered Republican but will not sit on committees or participate in the caucus until I see that Republican leadership in Congress is governing," she wrote on X. This unprecedented move is stunning, to say the least.

"I do not need to be involved in circuses. I would rather spend more of my time helping [DOGE]… to save our Republic, as was mandated by the American people," she continued.

Tuesday morning she issued a press release echoing those sentiments, adding a warning to Congress:

“This election the American people sent a resounding message and mandate to the Republican party to govern - not deliver talking points and messaging bills. Our country is on a fiscal collision course and it will take some courage and structural changes in Congress to challenge the status quo, which is not happening.
"As a serious legislator and finance professional, not a clown, I am not going to continue being involved in circuses. I would rather spend my energy helping President Trump, his appointees and DOGE to deliver on their promises through reconciliation. And I will be working hard doing real work for the people I represent - not presentations in committees for the lobbyists, spectacles and posts on Facebook and X to raise money.
"The swamp will be back in business in four years if not drained through the law. Congress cannot fail President Trump and the American people again.”

Spartz has bucked House GOP leadership several times during the 118th Congress, chiefly on issues of government spending and the national debt. She is currently a member of the House Judiciary Committee.

An immigrant from Ukraine, Spartz has also been criticized by the Lindsey Graham wing of the GOP for criticizing Volodymyr Zelensky:

Inside the House GOP Conference, there’s a widespread fear that her posture is damaging U.S.-Ukraine relations at the worst possible time — and that she’s being played by forces that aim to weaken the Western alliance. GOP national-security hawks also worry that the MAGA wing of their party, where there’s already resistance to supporting Ukraine, will point to Spartz’s comments as justification.
In statements and interviews, Spartz has pushed for better oversight of the U.S. weaponry flowing into Ukraine — an issue that has attracted bipartisan scrutiny.
But she has also accused Zelenskyy of “playing politics” and not “understanding” the seriousness of the conflict. And she has launched a crusade against his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, accusing the president’s top aide of being in the pocket of Russia.

What she will do is unclear as this DOGE committee is a fresh committee that will be overseen by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Ron Paul has also said in the past he is willing to help DOGE find budgetary cuts to the federal government.
