There's nothing worse than faux righteousness and plenty of it to go around in Washington. Politicians love to pretend they stand atop the moral high ground when in reality, they are just laughable hypocrites.
Enter Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Rep. Jamie Raskin as the dumb and dumber of that equation. Both men are pushing a ridiculous conspiracy theory involving Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, asserting that he's an "insurrectionist" because he once flew an "Appeal to Heaven" flag over his beach house.

For context, the flag originated during the Revolutionary War, has connections to George Washington, and has been used by numerous entities, from the State of Massachusetts to Black Lives Matter. In other words, there's no extreme partisan divide regarding the flag with a pine tree on it. Yet, because someone had one on January 6th, it's now a symbol of "right-wing extremism," according to Democrat politicians and their media allies.
Thus, the attacks on the Supreme Court have continued apace, with Whitehouse parroting Raskin on Friday, pledging to "do something about" the "corrupted and contaminated body."
Raskin: “if and when we win back the House and the Senate and the White House we will look at the Supreme Court and figure out what can be done about that extremely corrupted and contaminated body.” Yes we will, brother. Yes we will.https://t.co/tqrffjtEnl

These insufferable clowns. Do you know what the current approval rating for Congress is right now? As of April, it's 16 percent, and that's actually a slight uptick from March. There is no other part of the government that elicits such universal disgust from the American people. The Supreme Court enjoys an approval rating nearly three times as high.
In other words, these two Democrats can sit all the way. They have no authority to speak on matters of corruption or contamination. For his part, Whitehouse is like a nipping dog. He's been waging a crusade against Alito for years, and his accusations get more stupid with time. That's when he's not caught up in a racism scandal. Then there's Raskin, who has decided to become Rep. Adam Shiff's mini-me, repeatedly spewing falsehoods in service of his partisan wants.
That wasn't lost on those responding to Whitehouse's post, and the reality checks arrived post haste.

It’s genuinely worrying to contemplate what these anti-institutions, power-hungry fanatics would do if given the chance. And unlike illiberal right-wing power plays (real or perceived), much of the ‘news’ media would provide cover for, or openly cheer, their destructive acts.

As Alito has famously said in the past, Congress did not create the Supreme Court, the Constitution did. It is not any Democrat hack's job to "fix" the court, and certainly, no one in Congress has the credibility to do absolutely anything regarding it.
"Fixing" it isn't the real purpose of the current left-wing hysteria, though. The real purpose is to garner more power. Democrats don't want to suffer the consequences of losing elections and believe they can simply change the rules mid-game to get what they want. That's not going to happen, and the best part about all this is that Alito doesn't care at all. He's probably kicking back and laughing.
