The White House Press Corps is filled with far-left zealots, but April D. Ryan is truly something special. Striving to reach a level of hackishness not matched since Jim Acosta and Brian Karem were in the briefing room, Ryan consistently manages to perform for the cameras while making even the most biased reporters around her seem even-keeled. 

On Monday, Ryan was called on by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. What followed was one of the weirdest questions I've ever heard uttered during a White House briefing. As the mask-wearing reporter asked it, it immediately elicited laughter in the room.

April Ryan: “But Steve Wonder is not alone in this thought.”

KJP: “Obviously, yeah, yeah.”

Ryan: “He’s not alone in this thought. He’s very upset and he’s even looking at this issue courting black males. I mean, he just wants to have a conversation with — do you — is the… pic.twitter.com/jE6LyMn2z8

First of all, what kind of fame-seeking journalist starts with a question about how she "had an in-depth conversation with Stevie Wonder last night?" Talk about a humble brag, but regardless, what exactly does Stevie Wonder have to do with White House policy? I suppose Ryan thought that citing him gave an air of authority to the complaints she raised, but it only came across as elitist. Why is a famous singer due an audience with the president but normal Americans aren't? 

The rest of the "question" is just a convoluted mess of false talking points. What laws of "50 years ago" are being abolished? What happened in Arkansas that is so terrible? What do affirmative action and the Supreme Court have to do with the Biden administration? What part of the "black agenda" is falling by the wayside? 

Ryan wasn't done, though. After Jean-Pierre did her best to pander in response, the reporter then let it be known that Wonder was "very upset." I wasn't aware that the feelings of celebrities are a concern of the federal government, but here we are. 

The entire exchange was just dumb. It was a symptom of a race-obsessed press corps, constantly wanting to place everything within the box of intersectionality. Whatever concerns Stevie Wonder has, they are no more important than the concerns of the average American walking down the street. I'd suggest most people are far more worried about the cost of living right now than whatever law passed in Arkansas. Not April Ryan, though. She's too busy trying to broker celebrity meetings with the president while pretending to be a journalist. It's all so silly.
