Rising crime has been a plague under the Biden regime, largely spurred by prosecutors who refuse to enforce the law, thereby incentivizing criminal activity.
That's been especially true when it comes to so-called "smash and grab" robberies. Sometimes carried out with a group of thieves and other times done solo, the technique is to rush into a place of business and steal high-value items. Technology and jewelry stores have become prime targets.
Nowhere is the problem worse than in California due to Prop 47, which reduces some felony thefts to misdemeanors. That has created an environment where criminals can steal at will, knowing that they will likely either get a ticket if caught or let go shortly after booking.
Sometimes, justice is served in other ways, though. In El Monte, CA, on Saturday, a man entered a jewelry store and quickly found a shopowner who was willing to fight back.

In the video, you can see one man hitting the would-be thief with a large wooden rod of some kind while another person in the store holds the door open. The shoplifter loses his shirt in the scuffle and is left running down the street with marks clearly present on his back. The shopowner chases him for a moment before disengaging.
It's a comical scene, and I certainly laughed the first time I watched it. With that said, I think simply laughing at what happened misses the seriousness of it. Democrat policies are encouraging this kind of lawlessness, and while this instance had a happy ending, what happens if a shoplifter has a gun next time? Or what happens when a shopowner is armed and protects his property? Someone is going to get killed (and many already have been) because of the prosecutorial inaction that is creating this environment.
Voters need to demand better. If they don't, then they can't expect anything but this chaos and anarchy to continue.
