If you believe China’s propaganda, despite having the virus originate in their country, they somehow managed to fare better than almost any major nation on earth. As of today, the CCP claims only 4,636 deaths, a number so laughable that it should be dismissed completely out of hand. I mean, if you are going to lie, at least make it believable, right?

Despite that, the American media have spent little time questioning China’s obvious lies nor their probable responsibility in leaking the virus from a lab in Wuhan.

I want to discuss that issue, but I also want to talk about something bigger. Let’s use this “news” piece from CNN as an example. It’s written by two “reporters” who ostensibly do hard news on China and are based in Hong Kong (which the Chinese control).

The article might as well have been penned by communist party officials. It’s full of glowing reviews of China’s handling of COVID, down to praising their governmental system as some kind of magic elixir against the virus and in distributing the vaccine.

For those still reluctant, China has a powerful tool in its arsenal: a top-down, one-party system that is all-encompassing in reach and forceful in action, and a sprawling bureaucracy that can be swiftly mobilized.

The top-down approach has been touted by officials as a strength of the Chinese system that helped curb the virus — and has again been deployed to accelerate inoculations.

That’s the kind of drivel you’d expect to see from one of those CCP-run Twitter accounts that constantly praise the superiority of the Chinese system. Yet, here we have two CNN-paid reporters who claim to be delivering an unbiased, realistic look at China. What we are actually getting is anything but.

Their article just gets worse from there. At no point do they mention the Chinese vaccine is garbage, with major COVID spikes happening right now in countries that relied on it. Shouldn’t that be the first thing mentioned in any piece talking about the Chinese vaccine? Instead, it’s completely skipped over. Further, the authors parrot CCP officials as if they are authoritative, bragging about the idea that China will “catch up” with the United States in vaccine distribution.

Now, I know I’m going to get accused of racism by bringing up the background of who the authors of this slobbering, CCP propaganda piece are. This isn’t about race, though. Rather, it’s about nationalism and ideology. These reporters could be South American in descent, but if they are based in Hong Kong and clearly spouting Chinese talking points in an American news outlet, it’s not hard to imagine what’s really going on. These are reporters in Chinese-controlled Hong Kong, which is not a free part of the world. If their work shows clear signs of CCP influence, then that’s probably because it’s being influenced by the CCP.

The real question is why CNN is allowing this. Yeah, I know they are a biased, garbage dump of a news organization, but this should be a bridge too far for even them. That they do allow it speaks volumes about their lack of integrity, but also what may be going on behind the scenes. We’ve already had revelations about other outlets taking money from the CCP to publish “news” articles. Is that what’s going on here?

No matter the explanation, these kinds of propaganda pieces are dangerous. They give China a specter of credibility that the genocidal nation doesn’t deserve. Nothing they say about COVID (or any other topic) should be taken at face value. That CNN would print such obviously compromised nonsense is more evidence they should never be taken seriously as a news source.
