Earlier in the year, it was revealed by TIME magazine that a secret cabal sought to manipulate the 2020 election against Republicans via a variety of methods, including suppressing information and getting voting laws changed.

One of those in that cabal was the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an organization that had ostensibly favored Republicans in past cycles.

Of course, supporting Democrats usually doesn’t end well, and the Chamber is finding that out the hard way. The ProAct, a nationalized version of the absolute garbage legislation that is California’s AB5, is currently making its way through Congress. That has the Chamber suddenly feeling buyer’s remorse on politicians they helped to elect.
We are disappointed to see the House pass the #PROAct. This bill would threaten worker privacy, force employees to pay union dues or lose their jobs, and trample free speech rights. Full statement on today's vote here: https://t.co/I61l3qDpFr

A phrase comes to mind: Get bent.
What exactly did the Chamber think was going to happen if they helped put Joe Biden in office? Were they under some illusion that the mythical moderate would send them a thank you note and suddenly start treating small businesses, many of which operate as sub-contractors, with respect? This has the same energy as that “Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden” group whining that Biden is pushing pro-abortion policies. How dumb do you have to be?
(see ‘Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden’ Say They Were Betrayed, and Confusion Abounds)
Here’s Biden plunging the knife deeper.
I believe every worker deserves a free and fair choice to join a union — and the PRO Act will bring us closer to that reality. I urge Congress to send it to my desk so we can summon a new wave of worker power and create an economy that works for everyone.

To reiterate, the ProAct is an awful piece of legislation that serves as a payoff to unions, while making it illegal for tens of millions of Americans to continue working for themselves in the capacity they see fit. In California, AB5 has already had disastrous consequences, putting thousands of contract laborers out of work and small businesses out of business. The Chamber was part of that effort, as well.
Here’s RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar, who has dedicated much of the last few years to opposing AB5 in her home state and knows the law inside and out.
Odd, they pulled the EXACT SAME CRAP on us in CA. They chose to not fight #AB5, then were up in arms when there were terrible consequences.
Screw you, US Chamber of Commerce. You don't care about small business or business at all.
— Jennifer Van Laar (@jenvanlaar) March 10, 2021
Jennifer is correct. The national Chamber organization is really just a front to lobby for large corporations. They pretend to care about small businesses, yet when push comes to shove, they’d rather see small businesses crushed than compromise with Republicans on issues such as China and immigration. They had a chance to do the right thing and work for the best outcomes in 2020. Instead, they sought to put Joe Biden in office.
The rest of us who have remained consistent will fight and win against the ProAct. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, on the other hand, can go jump in a lake. You get what you support, and they are getting it good and hard now.
