You want authentic? You want pandering? Well, Beto O’Rourke has you covered.

With a campaign that’s flat-lined since nearly day one, Beto has decided to make gun control his chief issue. He apparently feels he can use the dead bodies from a shooting in his home town of El Paso to propel his political fortunes into winning territory. That isn’t happening but it doesn’t mean he’s not going to keep trying.

That was on full display last night at the third Democratic debate, where Beto once again reiterated that he’s coming for your guns with force.

It’s a weapon designed to kill people on a battlefield that wasn’t actually designed for military use, but hey Beto says it so it must be true. You certainly aren’t going to see any media outlets fact-checking this stuff as they are all in on the movement to ban semi-automatic weapons. MSNBC was even describing such lunacy as a “moderate position” last night because of course they are.

Because Beto is the most robotic, fraudulent candidate in recent history, he’s decided to go all on in social media on taking law abiding citizens’ guns.

Yes, that’s a fully automatic M4 with grenade launcher and silencer. So very menacing. Also so very not legal for almost anyone in the country to own. The few people that do own fully automatic weapons in the United States do so after spending a ton of money and going through a ton of government scrutiny. There’s a reason you never see them used in crimes.

In all seriousness, what Beto is doing here is profoundly dangerous. No, he’s not going to be President, but he’s whipping the left up into a frenzy on this issue that could lead us to a tipping point. If any Democrat politician actually succeeds in trying to confiscate legally owned firearms in violation of the constitution, it’s not going to end well.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath. You don’t stop mass killers by taking guns from normal people. The worst school shooting in our history was done with a pistol. Violence finds a way and that’s why focusing on mental health and enforcing current laws (which have often been ignored by authorities in these cases) is the only viable path forward.
