'60 Minutes' Anchor Scott Pelley Goes on Astonishing Rant Against Paramount Bosses in Deluded Monologue

I’m guessing "60 Minutes" anchor Scott Pelley is begging to be fired, or is on the cusp of resigning. It’s rare that you can blast the people who sign your paycheck on national broadcast television and come away with your job intact.

But that’s exactly what the veteran anchor did Sunday night at the end of the once legendary show’s broadcast, not-so-subtly taking CBS News and its corporate owner, Paramount Global, to task for what he sees as their undue editorial influence. His tight-lipped tantrum comes upon the heels of longtime executive producer Bill Owens' resignation last week.

What he didn’t mention was the network’s numerous scandals and reporting disasters that led to Paramount deciding to rein in the leftist program. Here’s Pelley basically giving the finger to his paymasters:

The tweet continues:

Pelley complained: “Paramount began to supervise our content in new ways. None of our stories has been blocked, but Bill felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires.”

First, he makes sure in his extremely self-important film trailer voice to remind us that Owens was a hero right out of Greek mythology (emphasis mine):

In tonight's last minute, a note on Bill Owens, who until this past week was Executive Producer of "60 Minutes." He was our boss. Bill was with CBS News nearly 40 years, 26 years at "60 Minutes." He covered the world, covered combat, the White House. His was a quest to open minds, not close them.

If you've ever worked hard for a boss because you admired him, then you understand what we've enjoyed here. Bill resigned Tuesday.

It was hard on him and hard on us, but he did it for us and you.

Jeez, where did those tissues go?

He didn’t do it for me, I can assure you of that. Then Pelley went after his bosses:

Stories we pursued for 57 years are often controversial. Lately, the Israel-Gaza war and the Trump administration. Bill made sure they were accurate and fair. [Editor's note: Ha!

He was tough that way, but our parent company, Paramount, is trying to complete a merger. The Trump administration must approve it.

Paramount began to supervise our content in new ways. None of our stories has been blocked, but Bill felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires. [But Scott, you don’t do honest journalism.]

And then he goes for the jugular (emphasis mine):

No one here is happy about it, but in resigning, Bill proved one thing. He was the right person to lead "60 Minutes" all along.

I’m a firm believer in the First Amendment, freedom of the press, and the right of journalists to say what they want. However, I’m also a believer in capitalism, and if the corporate parent of CBS feels like the constant scandals and dishonest reporting emanating from their news outlet is not good for their bottom line, that’s their right. Pelley can go start a Substack like the many writers who were wrongfully censored by the Biden-Big Tech censorship machine.

But this isn’t censorship. This is called consequences. Consequences for the many lies, distortions, and outright DNC cheerleading that the venerable program has pushed in recent years.

Pelley can sound as self-important as he wants, but he notably takes no accountability for the failures of his own broadcast, or their shameful neglect in hiding Joe Biden’s mental decline, or their comical attempts to help an inept Kamala Harris cross the finish line in the presidential race.

Pelley and Owens have no one but themselves to blame for the fact that “60 Minutes” has lost all credibility.
