I remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger ran for governor in California as a Republican—and won. It was an exciting time for conservatives here because although the Golden State was nothing like the extreme progressive dystopia that it is now, it had already started to turn that way back in 2003. The thought of a GOP governor made us think that maybe some sanity was returning.
However, unlike another actor turned Golden State governor—Ronald Reagan, of course—Arnold’s tenure was mostly unsuccessful, and on the environment, he sounded by the end more like Greta “Doom Pixie” (hat tip to our Ward Clark) Thunberg that he did a conservative. Like far too many of our ilk, once he got into power he became too enamored with pleasing his critics on the left than he did on delivering principled Republican policies.
On Wednesday, the “Republican” thespian endorsed Kamala Harris for president. No, really.
Message to Arnold Schwarzenegger: 'Get To Da Choppah!' And Head Back to Austria!
I can understand maybe not loving a particular candidate on your side, but to go so fully in the other direction is just revolting. Ok, maybe you don’t love Trump—so you endorse the most leftist ticket in the history of the nation?
Still trying to please those Kennedys, are you, Ahnold? (Except for RFK Jr., of course.)
Not surprisingly, “Conan the Barbarian” was savaged on social media:
How much were you paid for this

I admit I felt the need to jump in:
"I also understand that people want to hear from me."

No, we didn't.
Now, whenever I watch The Terminator, I will remember that the robot endorsed the most extreme left ticket in the history of our country. 😢
Conservative commentator Mike Cernovich didn’t hold back (provocative language alert):
You are a washed up moral coward. You impregnated your nanny, covered this up for decades, and then finally acknowledged your son when it could no longer be denied.

During Covid you supported the most draconian lockdowns. You wanted every American forcibly injected with an experimental therapeutic, which was dishonestly called a vaccine. "Screw your freedom," was what you said to people who refused to live in a state of panic and hysteria. Go screw another nanny, like Kamala’s husband did.
Schwarzenneger showed his true colors back in the COVID era:

Do you know how you can tell that you’ve descended into political loserdom? When former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, aka the Cryin' Congressman, likes your tweets:
Well said

It’s funny to rag on Schwarzenegger for this, but in reality I actually feel kind of sad. I loved his movies—I remember way back in the day going to "Conan" with my stepfather, and it was one of our first bonding moments. We both agreed that it was simultaneously ridiculous and fun at the same time. Meanwhile, I consider “The Terminator” to be one of the most perfectly executed films of all time (no, not kidding—I really think so), and Terminator 2 was also absolutely groundbreaking. He has other entertaining films too, of course, but now I can never watch them again without thinking, this man just put the full weight of his hard-earned celebrity into endorsing the continuation of a poisonous regime that injects extreme gender ideology, weakness abroad, rampant inflation and hate politics at home.
It’s one thing to say you’re not 100 percent down with Trump’s vibe. It’s quite another to so completely betray what you once said you stood for and the people who were with you.
Sadly, I guess I now have to terminate you from the play-list alongside your fellow radical Bruce Springsteen, Arnold. If it was just me, it wouldn’t make a difference—but I suspect a whole lot of former fans will be doing the same thing.
