Democrat politicians were quick to weigh in on former President Donald Trump’s sham indictment by soft-on-crime Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. California Democrat Representative Maxine Waters—she who in 2018 called for Americans to harass Trump administration officials who dared showed their faces in public—once again showed her true vindictive soul with a gleeful post on Twitter:

Many other prominent Democrats, however, seemed to have held a joint focus group, because the words “somber,” “sober” and the like appear in virtually all their statements about the indictment.
Their attempts to appear as if they are serious people fall flat considering most of them have been cheering on false Trump accusations for years, with the serpentine California Democrat Representative Adam Schiff begging for The Donald to be charged with something—anything—since the Russia Russia collusion days.
Here is the Shifty One trying to sound like a statesman, even after he’s been caught in so many lies:
The indictment of former President Donald J. Trump by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office over his alleged participation in a campaign fraud and hush money scheme that already sent his former attorney Michael Cohen to jail is a sobering and unprecedented development.
Translation: WE GOT HIM! Praise the skies above, we finally got him on something! No, I don’t care that we had to sell out our judicial system to nail him on some trivial matter—whatever it takes, at all costs!
Eric Swalwell, who is always good for a hot ridiculous take, decided he too would pretend it was a serious moment in a serious land:

“The indictment of a former president is a somber day for America,” he opined. “It’s also a time to put faith in our judicial system. Donald Trump deserves every protection provided to him by the Constitution. As that unfolds, let us neither celebrate nor destroy. Justice benefits us all.”
This is the guy who the Mercury News found attacked Trump in 23 percent of his tweets in 2020, far more than any other Democrat at the time. He also served as manager for Trump’s second impeachment trial and was a member of the overly-hyped Jan. 6 Committee, and called Jan. 6 “one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.”
I can think of a few others like 9/11, Pearl Harbor, Antietam, or the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, and John F. Kennedy… But let’s not split hairs.

Former House Speaker and current California Representative Nancy Pelosi also tried to get in on the “I’m a very serious person” act, writing in a statement:
The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law. No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence. Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right.
This is the woman who ripped up the State of the Union speech of the sitting president of the United States on the House floor, as disgusting an act as I have ever witnessed in American politics. Yet here she is lecturing us on the rule of law.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York seemed to hire the same publicist to issue his statement because it sounds identical to Pelosi’s:
Trump is subject to the same laws as every American. He will be able to avail himself of the legal system and a jury, not politics, to determine his fate according to the facts and the law. There should be no outside political influence, intimidation or interference in the case. I encourage both Mr. Trump’s critics and supporters to let the process proceed peacefully and according to the law.
Yet another California Democrat Representative, the intellectually-challenged Ted Lieu, felt the need to weigh in too, once again reminding us that the situation is somber. Or was it sober?
This is a somber moment for America. We should let the judicial system do its job without interference.

The truth is, this indictment is neither somber nor sober—it’s flat-out on fire. It seems clear to virtually every thinking person that this is a political action, not a search for “justice.” Those now claiming that folks should not celebrate are the very ones who have been shrilly calling for Trump to be taken down by any means necessary, and you know they’re all clinking their champagne flutes tonight.
They have no credibility and should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their personal distaste for someone to sell the soul of our judicial system—all for a little payback.
