If you’re a polling skeptic, here’s fuel for your fire: A recent poll from Harvard University Center for American Political Studies (CAPS) shows that Vice President Kamala Harris would beat Florida Governor Ron DeSantis 39 percent to 37 percent in a hypothetical 2024 presidential contest.

Please allow me a minute to stop laughing.

Note that as of June 21 poll, a whopping 52 percent of voters had an unfavorable opinion of Kamala, and she has routinely face-planted in interviews and appearances, blurting out incomprehensible word salads and offering little of substance. She has failed miserably in accomplishing anything on the two major issues Biden has assigned her: border control and voting rights. Border crossings are at an all-time high and she still hasn’t found time to visit there, while voting rights have all but disappeared from the national conversation.

Her interviews and cackles have become legendary, with fragmented, repeated sentences saying nothing and her cringe-worthy laugh piercing even the most tolerant ears. I and others at RedState have chronicled her “work” extensively.

This is not presidential material. Contrast it to Ron DeSantis, whose approval rating in April was at a robust 59 percent, according to a poll, and is probably even higher now. Unlike Kamala, he is an effective public speaker and routinely swats away his detractors with powerful arguments.

He has a strong ally in spokesperson Christina Pushaw who can be counted on virtually every day to come out in defense of DeSantis against the media’s mischaracterizations of the Governor and his policies. Her latest:

A Trump-DeSantis battle for the presidency is now a trending news topic—and DeSantis is often favored in recent polls.

The poll claiming Kamala would beat DeSantis was conducted from June 28 to 29 among 1,308 registered voters. Notably, 23 percent of respondents were “undecided.” I’m a betting man, and my bet is that most of them will not wake up one day soon and decide, “Hey, I think Harris is the right choice.”

One can only wonder, though, who were the 39 percent who claimed they’d vote for Harris? Kamala is so unpopular right now that she would struggle to win an election for dog catcher.

The poll becomes almost more ridiculous as Newsweek tries to explain it.

The poll found that 71 percent of respondents said Biden should not run again, with 45 percent of those saying he’s a “bad president,” 30 percent citing his age and 26 percent saying it was time for a change.

The survey had good news for Harris in terms of the 2024 Democratic primaries, however. She placed second behind Biden among Democratic voters, garnering 18 percent support to the president’s 30 percent.

Wait, you just said that 71 percent don’t want Biden to run again… but the “good news” for Harris is that she placed second behind him. Doesn’t that mean that more than 71 percent wouldn’t want her to run, or am I missing something?

Many Americans no longer trust the polls, because they have been so wrong, from Bush v. Gore to Trump v. Clinton. Literally, a poll taken just three days before the 2016 presidential election found an over 90 percent chance of Hillary Clinton beating Trump handily. Oops.

The thought that Kamala would have the slightest chance of beating DeSantis is good for a laugh, but I think it has zero basis in reality.
