Donald Trump's political operation is burning through cash and has just $5 million remaining in the bank, according to a report from Mediaite.
Disclosures published online for Trump's Save America PAC reveal that having once had a healthy $100 million war chest, the organization has just $5 million remaining after spending a staggering $25 million on his legal fees in the second half of 2023.
Another Trump-affiliated PAC, Make America Great Again, similarly spent $4 million on the former president's legal fees as he battles numerous state and federal criminal cases brought against him.
Perhaps most concerning, however, is the fact that Trump's fundraising operations are not keeping pace with his current burn rate. In the second half of last year, Save America raised just $6.6 million, equivalent to just one or two months of legal bills.
Money is also being spent on other items, including $7.6 million on ads, $3.7 million on legal consulting, $1.7 million on travel costs, $1.66 million on event staging, and $110,500 to Melania Trump's stylist Herve Pierre Braillard.
Here come the Trump FEC filings...first up, MAGA PAC (formerly his 2016/2020 campaign cmte). It received $5.9M from his Save America leadership PAC, spent $5.9M (including over $4M on legal fees), and had $572,828 remaining pic.twitter.com/zfTrsMmIlg

Earlier this week, Trump was also ordered to pay a staggering $83.3 million to the journalist E. Jean Carroll following a defamation lawsuit she brought against him. The ruling will now go to appeal before any money transfer is made, although this process alone will continue draining their limited resources.
There are various conservative takes on Trump's money problems, with some arguing that this is all the more reason for people to donate to his presidential campaign, with Republicans inevitably set to be wildly outmatched in spending by their Democratic counterparts.
Others, however, may contend that such figures show that any donation to his political operation goes straight towards fighting his legal battles rather than taking the fight to the left.
There is also the argument that Trump is a self-described billionaire, and with Trump Tower in New York worth hundreds of millions alone, he should start coughing up the money himself.
Yet regardless of one's views on Trump's money woes, what is undoubtedly the case is that the Republican Party as a whole has a major money problem.
As reported by RedState's Jennifer Van Laar, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has seen its revenue plummet in recent years and is currently experiencing major cash flow issues. Last month, it was reported that the RNC had sought an additional $10 million line of credit as both small and large donations show signs of drying up.
Despite these money issues, the RNC and its leader, Ronna McDaniel, have been less than frugal in their spending, even though they strenuously deny this.
Over the past year, the committee has spent $128 million on its operations, including over $1 million on management and media consultants, nearly $300,000 in office supplies, $263,000 on limousines, and $70,000 on floral arrangements.
