The fact that America's public schools have become little more than babysitters and indoctrination centers is common knowledge. But in Joe Biden's America, teachers unions and those who support them clearly feel like they no longer have to hide what the real agenda is. And if you didn't know there is an agenda other than the actual education of America's children, now there should be no question. That old Marxist canard of "Get 'em while they're young" is in full force with the ultimate goal being to create another generation of up-and-coming left-wing activists and parents be damned.
@ncte should focus more on teaching English and not indoctrinating our children. How will this help raise our abysmal reading scores? https://t.co/flOlQrJQU2

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is an organization that offers various resources to English teachers. They are very excited about hosting their upcoming teachers' conference and have announced some of the topics being discussed with the teachers charged with instructing your kids. They are very eager to bring the latest woke ideologies to the classroom. The conference, dubbed "Conexiones 2023," will be held in Columbus, Ohio.
The Conference schedule leaves no doubt as to the goal of the NCTE. Topics include “From Virginia Woolf to Lil Wayne: Using Music to Bridge Connections and Create Community in the English Composition Classroom,” “Learning for Critical Consciousness,” “Nonfiction Books to Inspire Activism and Advocacy in the Classroom," and last but certainly not least, “Using Critical Race Theory to Deconstruct the Historical Context in a Short Story: Learning How to Use CRT to Deepen Our Teaching of Literature." I am just a public school kid from back in the day, so could someone explain what "critical consciousness" is?
According to the description in the listing on the conference schedule regarding the critical race theory session:
"This presentation is a literary analysis of a short story using CRT as an instructive lens. The idea is to offer teachers another concept of applying a critical theory to their teaching repertoire while showing how CRT can help our way of thinking and teaching literature."
The takeaway from this description appears to be inserting CRT into a short story that doesn't otherwise include it to teach children in the classroom that some of them are oppressed and some of them are the oppressors, thus teaching them to hate each other. Welcome to public school English class in 2023. A quick perusal of the entire schedule of the conference reveals a whole host of leftist issues like climate activism, social justice, and LGBTQ issues.

The conference will no doubt include the "LGBTQ toolkit" information released in June by the National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest teachers' union. The six-part NEA guidelines that claim to address “exploring the intersections of race” and transgenderism" centered around explaining and using pronouns like "ze/zim," teachers introducing themselves to students with their preferred pronouns, and using "gender neutral" pronouns like "they," "them," and "their."
So, just who is the NCTE? On the surface, it is an organization of English teachers from around the country. A vision statement on the group's website mentions their support for their students to become "critical thinkers." Sounds great — we all want to teach young people to think critically. But as with most things associated with teaching today, the statement also mentions using "the power of language and literacy to actively pursue justice and equity for all students and the educators who serve them." Isn't the job of an English teacher to teach kids how to read, write, and use the English language effectively so they will become responsible citizens who contribute to society? Teaching critical thinking is part of your job; teaching your version of "justice and equity," not so much.
It is the reason more and more parents are attending school board meetings and running for seats on their local school boards. American parents are well aware of the teachers union agenda and don't want any part of it for their kids. American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten recently took to X and referred to an Axios article that pondered why it is that more parents from all backgrounds are turning to homeschooling as an alternative to government schools. Gee Randi, it sure is a mystery...
Unfortunately, the conference runs from November 16 through 19, giving teachers plenty of time to learn new ways to teach children to be social justice warriors. The title of one conference session may give the whole thing away, "A Roadmap for Revision."
About 75% of Democrat voters and nearly all Republicans voters support school choice.

Yet the Democrat PARTY strongly opposes school choice and vouchers.
WHY?
It would take students away from their public education indoctrination centers. Which are operated for them by their…
