Marjorie Taylor Greene Files Articles of Impeachment on DHS Sec. After Constituents Killed by Smuggler

It is possibly the largest gaslighting operation in American history. Americans have watched in jaw-dropping amazement as Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has testified time and again in front of numerous congressional committees and insisted that the U.S. southern border is closed, as roughly eight million illegal immigrants have entered the country on Joe Biden's watch. That number could easily reach 10 million by the end of his term in office.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed articles of impeachment on various Biden administration officials — and even Biden himself. But a recent event may get enough members in Congress to pay attention and make those articles stick.

Greene introduced a resolution to impeach Mayorkas on Thursday after two of her constituents were killed in a head-on collision near San Antonio after what was described by law enforcement as a chase with a suspected human smuggler. She had originally filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas back in May, but the measure was never brought for a vote. When asked by reporters why she had introduced this new resolution, she held up a picture of the crash and stated,

"Because these people just died yesterday. People are dying every single day in America because Secretary Mayorkas is breaking the law, breaking his oath of office. So, nothing matters more than that."

The seven-page resolution also accuses Mayorkas of high crimes and misdemeanors, such as "willfully admitting border crossers, terrorists, human traffickers, and other contraband" into the country. It goes on to say that Mayorkas has failed to uphold his constitutional oath by allowing "the invasion of approximately 10,000,000 illegals to cross the southern border," amounting to a national security threat to Americans. It cites approximately 280 people who have been apprehended and are on the terror watch list, roughly 400,000 unaccompanied children, and 73,000 people who are referred to as "special interest aliens," those who are from nations that promote terrorist activity, harbor terrorists, or in any way pose a national security threat to the United States. The resolution lists some of those special interest aliens having come from countries like Iran and Syria. The vast amount of fentanyl coming into the country is also listed.

Greene stated that she called Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and told him she would be introducing the resolution, but he had not returned her call. However, Johnson has previously stated that he believes that the impeachment of Mayorkas would be well-founded. In an interview with Fox News's Sean Hannity, Johnson said:

"Look, Mayorkas has been an abject failure in his position. I believe he has committed impeachable offenses, and I have been on a record saying that for a long, long time."

Mayorkas' insistence that the border is closed has been too much for House Republicans on many occasions. In March of this year, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raoul Ortiz contradicted a previous statement from Mayorkas, who stated that the U.S. has "operational control" over the border. During the Senate hearing, Sen. Ted Cruz showed Mayorkas different colored wristbands and asked Mayorkas if he knew what they were. He did not. Cruz explained they denoted how much money illegals, many of them children, owed the cartels. Cruz continued, “These are modern-day leg irons because these are children being sold into sex slavery, and you don’t even know what they are."

At a House budget hearing in April, Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) called out Mayorkas' inaction, saying:

“You have not secured our borders, Mr. Secretary, and I believe you’ve done so intentionally. There is no other explanation for the systematic dismantling and transformation of our border into a lawless and dangerous open border.”

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) spoke to the incredulity of Mayorkas' statements, saying:

“Everybody of any reasonable sensibility looks at what you have been saying and what you continue to say, and recognizes that it blinks at reality, and you know it. You’re not delusional. But you are prepared to be dishonest with this Congress repeatedly.”

But Secretary Mayorkas' monumental incompetence is usually put on display best by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). On numerous occasions, Hawley has tried to get Mayorkas to answer questions, but the only answer he gets from Mayorkas is what a stellar job Homeland Security is doing on the southern border.
