Things have been looking rather bleak for our neighbors to the North, as my colleague Duke wrote earlier Saturday, with even the interim Chief of Police in Ottawa willing to hound protesters — threatening them with both arrest and screwing with their bank accounts — even if they give up and leave the Canadian capital.
If you’ve been out and about, as people often are on the weekends (especially holiday weekends like this one), you might have missed RedState’s comprehensive coverage of what’s been happening over the past 24 to 48 hours. In just a couple of words: it’s not good. I’ll let you reference Duke’s piece, which links to much of our work on the fascistic abuses Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his henchmen like Chief of Police Ol’ Baldy are gleefully metting out on the ground in Ottawa.
As Duke points out in his piece, not only did our sage Founders give us a Bill of Rights, but we have something else that isn’t explicitly outlined in the Constitution: our American ingenuity to solve problems in a creative way.
And that’s just what Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM) is showing in what she told Twitter followers on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Herrell began her comments Friday on what’s happening with the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa. Above a True North tweet, which showed a video clip of Tucker Carlson from his Fox News show, and read:
.@TuckerCarlson says the violence in Ottawa today is “sponsored by Justin Trudeau.”
She commented, denouncing the brutality of the Trudeau regime:
“Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed crackdown against peaceful protesters in Canada is not the action of a Western Democracy, but that of an authoritarian regime like Venezuela…”
She continued this morning:
“Just as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world.”
Then she shared her creative solution:
“I am introducing legislation that would temporarily grant asylum to innocent Canadian protesters who are being persecuted by their own government. We cannot be silent as our neighbors to the north are treated so badly.”

I’m going to guess that hers isn’t the only conservative voice we’ll hear on this in the coming days, especially with the tyrannical words and actions of the Canadian government showing no sign of ebbing. My colleague Nick Arama shared the following tweet in her piece from earlier on Saturday, showing that some major players are already signaling they aren’t about to stay silent either.
And so now our horses will stomp old ladies into the ground…. https://t.co/YeAkfaRC8C
