I don’t think anyone is going to look back on the Trump/Putin event in Helsinki Monday and see it as Trump’s finest hour. As with so many things, though, the left and mainstream media’s hysterical reaction to it has far outshone the initial event.
Let’s take Jill Wine-Banks (who you may know as one of the Watergate prosecutors) for example. She stopped by MSNBC’s All In today and said that Trump’s comments “will live in infamy as much as the Pearl Harbor attack or Kristallnacht.” Come on.
Newsbusters has the video.
From Newsbusters:
Before going any further, it’s worth noting that Kristallnacht occurred November 9 into November 10, 1938 in Germany with the death of roughly 100 Jewish people as a precursor to the Holocaust and Nazi concentration camps. As for Pearl Harbor, its official website lists the death total as 2,403 U.S. military personnel and civilians. Compare those to how zero died at the Helsinki summit.
Does everything have to be LITERALLY HITLER? Because most things are very short of being literally Hitler, and this is one of them. It is also not literally Pearl Harbor, for that matter.
When I woke up this morning, I didn’t think I was going to be agreeing with the Senior Political Correspondent for Vox, but here we are.
Comparing Trump’s presser to Kristallnacht is stupid and bad. Comparing Trump’s presser to Pearl Harbor is stupid and bad.
Also, Trump’s presser was stupid and bad.

This disproportionate “sky is falling” outrage is only making things worse. It is amazing to me that they can’t see it.
