Public Elementary School Devotes a Week to BLM, Tells Boys and Girls They May Be Both or Neither

In America, black lives should always matter. And at a school in Washington, D.C., they're making certain of it. Teachers are ensuring transgenderism matters, too.

Via Seaton Elementary School's website, administrators recently promoted a social-justice extravaganza:

Beginning in Seattle in the Fall of 2016, the Black Lives Matter at School educational movement has informed educators in over 20 cities, including Washington, DC. Seaton has made the pledge this year to implement a schoolwide Black Lives Matter at School Plan of Action.

The announcement expressed hope to "empower students to contribute to a community that thrives in all subject areas and beyond the school walls."

We will honor Black lives in our morning announcements, book read-alouds, math lessons, social-emotional activities, and more.

The week's official webpage bullseyes Guiding Principles -- "at Seaton for BLM @ Schools Week." In part:

Restorative Justice (We know that if you hurt somebody, you have to help them feel better; you can’t just say, “Sorry,” and walk away.)
Unapologetically Black
Black Women (There are some people who think women are less important than men. We know that all people are important and have a right to be safe and talk about their feelings.)
Globalism
Queer Affirming
Transgender Affirming (Everyone gets to choose if they are a girl or a boy or both or neither or something else, and no one else gets to choose for them.)

Are all the above virtues inherently melanated? It would seem so. An itinerary separates the principles and their respective days of observance:

Monday -- Restorative Justice, Empathy, Loving Engagement
Tuesday -- Intergenerational, Black Families, Black Villages
Wednesday -- Diversity and Globalism
Thursday -- Trans-Affirming, Queer Affirming, and Collective Value
Friday -- Centering Black Women and Unapologetically Black

Also included: a cascade of colors for fashionable display...

Monday -- Wear RED (represents the blood that unites people of Black African ancestry)
Tuesday -- Wear BLACK (represents members of the Black community)
Wednesday -- Wear GREEN (represents the abundant natural wealth of the continent of Africa)
Thursday -- Wear colors inspired by the Inclusive Rainbow Flag
Friday -- Wear logos or colors inspired by BLM or Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)

Instructions are offered in Spanish, for the Mexicans, Dominicans, and Salvadorans psyched to celebrate black bloodlines and abundant cocoa beans fermenting a mere 7,000 miles away.

Additionally provided: a book and video list. Among the advisement:

Early Childhood (Pre-K Three and Four): "Julian Is a Mermaid," "When We Say Black Lives Matter"
Kindergarten-2nd Grade: "Bad Hair Does Not Exist"
3rd-5th Grade: "The Youngest Marcher"

"Support local Black owned business," the page directs. A curation of companies follows.

The BLM push is curious for a government school. Not long ago, the focus of education was just that; these days, social ideology has assumed centerstage. As for globalism and transgenderism, they're certainly in-line with Black Lives Matter. Organization co-founder Patrisse Cullors has previously established her political taste:

“The first thing...is that [BLM] actually [does] have an ideological frame. Myself and [fellow founder Alicia Garza] in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories.”

We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks...and all Black lives along the gender spectrum.

Seaton Elementary says it's in favor of "families." Until September 2020, BLM's online "About" section expounded upon the idea:

We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and "villages"...

Perhaps families and villages assist in keeping up average test scores. If so, maybe Seaton could use more. Per PublicSchoolReview.com:

The percentage of (Seaton Elementary) students achieving proficiency in math is 40-44 percent...for the 2018-19 school year. The percentage of students achieving proficiency in reading/language arts is 30-34 percent...for the 2018-19 school year.

Reportedly, things looked no better in 2023. Then again, in our new era, high scores seem insufficiently woke:

Though Seaton's five days of Black Lives Mattering passed last week, surely its proclaimed principles are adhered to far beyond February. It's Social Justice Christmas, and they'll presumably make Christmas last all year. Except in December -- despite the school's apparent penchant for festive embrace, some classroom messaging is evidently a bridge too far. That's ostensibly why, two months ago, diverse and unapologetic Seaton implored all the non-boy/girls and both-boy/girls to celebrate something called "Holiday":
