Here’s something you don’t come across every day. A couple in Texas is going to prison for smuggling illegal immigrants into the U.S.
30-year-old Brianna Branch and 32-year-old Kevin Barr were hit with time behind bars by U.S. District Judge Janis Jack for smuggling over 100 people into the country during a three-month period.
According to the DoJ, the pair led a conspiracy to sneak adults and minors past South Texas Border Patrol checkpoints. They recruited drivers in Houston to truck it over to the border and put the pilgrims into utility trailers.
That constituted, in the eyes of the Justice Department, “unnecessary and harsh conditions.”
The couple’s soon to be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
Four others have pleaded guilty for their part in the scheme.
The sentencing follows another Texas resident’s trouble over shenanigans at what actress-turned-activist Alyssa Milano recently called “arbitrary lines in the sand.”
From The Daily Caller:
The judgement came as Monica Christine Canales Rodriguez, 51, another Texas resident, pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to smuggle roughly $1.3 million worth of heroin and meth across the southern border. Customs and Border Patrol officials who inspected the tires of her vehicle discovered the contraband.
The Justice Department is continuing to prosecute individuals contributing to the immigration crisis and the organized crime that accompanies it.
Alyssa’s surely no fan of Janis’s jailbirding judgement. During Thanksgiving week, social media lit up with her emotional plea to stop what mustn’t be the “new normal” of America “destroying children’s lives”:

For his role, Kevin’s gettin’ contained for 85 months. Brianna’s being breadboxed for 70.
