Only five meetings/hearings are set for Thursday on the Hill, mostly budgetary and nominations. And things may seem a bit quieter now that the motion to vacate the speaker's chair has been scuttled.

White House What's Up

Not a thing on the president's calendar for Thursday morning (probably resting up from Wednesday's barnstorming). In the afternoon, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will welcome the Las Vegas Aces to the White House to celebrate their 2023 WNBA championship. (Will Kamala be extolling the virtues of their ovaries?)

After that, Biden jets off to San Francisco.

Former President Donald Trump is back in court in Manhattan on Thursday, as Stormy Daniels will once again take the stand to discuss the lurid details of her alleged tryst with Trump almost two decades ago so that the jury can determine if the former president should be jailed for...checks notes...being Trump.

MORNING MUSING

I have good news for readers who are tiring of tornado talk: After Thursday, we should be in for some quieter days. Although the past week or two have been extraordinarily eventful from a severe storm perspective. Wednesday evening's offerings included so many tornado warnings over southern Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and even North Carolina and Texas (sorry if I forgot anyone) that the National Weather Service struggled to keep up with them and all of the weather streamers have pretty much lost their voices. And now there's severe flooding in Tennessee and elsewhere. But, as I said, things are about to quiet down...
