Illegal Immigrants Adopt Left-Wing Tactics in Denver, Make Insane List of Demands

Illegal immigrants have adopted a new tactic. Following a spate of pro-Hamas "encampments" on college campuses, the City of Denver is now facing the same problem in a different context.

The encampment in question is situated under a rail bridge, with the area covered in tents, trash, and Palestinian flags (because the cause is never the cause). Naturally, Denver officials are concerned about safety and petitioned to have everyone present moved to a taxpayer-funded shelter. When the buses showed up, though, the illegal immigrants refused to leave, instead presenting a list of 13 different demands.

Unexpectedly, this is being driven by NGOs, with an American-accented "migrant activist" taking on the role of speaking for the illegal immigrants present.

REEVES: As a collective, (they) came up with a list of demands.

REPORTER: That came after a petition by city officials to move from this encampment, near train tracks, under a bridge, to indoor shelters funded by the city.

REEVES: This morning, they sent buses to take people over without presenting that document, and without having any kind of signature for accountability.

REPORTER: That's what migrant advocate V Reeves says the city responded with instead of meeting the migrants' demands.

EWING: We've been offering time and shelter, basically just trying to get families to leave that camp and come inside

REPORTER: John Ewing Denver Human Services says shelter comes with its perks, namely, getting out of these conditions outdoors.

EWING: It comes with three square meals a day. You can cook your own if you want to.

REPORTER: That is one of the main demands by these migrants who have had their grievances in the past about the food provided by the city.

REEVES: There have been so many complaints about the food being spoiled or not being enough and malnutrition among children.

REPORTER: Migrants who do stay in shelters are often put on a path toward a work permit. Reeves says these folks haven't received the same benefits.

REEVES: They're not receiving any kind of official housing or immigration document support, which is incredibly necessary for them to be able to navigate the bureaucracy around these systems.

REPORTER: The city says its own offer includes these benefits.

Yes, one of the complaints here is that the food being provided is prepackaged. The illegal immigrants are demanding that more expensive individual ingredients be provided to them so they can cook their own meals. They also want free housing, free lawyers, and free medical care, among other things the "collective" decided. The illegal immigrants are refusing to leave the encampment until their demands are met.

Illegal immigration has never been a good thing. A nation of laws should enforce them everywhere, including at its borders. With that said, there's a difference between the illegal immigrants who were coming a decade ago and the current wave. There was a time when the goal of almost everyone crossing the border was to find work and be left alone. "Doing the work Americans won't do" was a bit of a cliche, but there was a lot of truth to it.

That's no longer the case. Now, having been coached by nefarious NGOS, they are adopting left-wing tactics. The goal isn't to do the jobs Americans won't do. It's to come here and live off the welfare state while enacting radical political change. They aren't even hiding that desire anymore, as evidenced by the above report.

Meanwhile, Denver officials are looking to bend the knee by cutting police funding to provide more money for illegal immigrants. All that does is provide an incentive for more people to come. It's a self-destructive cycle, and one liberals seem intent on repeating
